Nicknamed "Tarzan," Russ Bleakley was king of the wrestling mats in Lancaster in the early 1930s. As the Diplomat dominance in wrestling continued, Bleakley "swung" to a 31-3-2 dual meet record with 20 falls at the 118 to 125 pound weight classes. The team continued to win as well, going undefeated in 1934 and compiling a 31-5-1 record during his career. Bleakley was the captain of the squad in 1934. Before retiring, Bleakley worked for Janrus and Co. in the Philadelphia area where he still resides.
