Crawley Headed to Nationals

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Sheena Crawley finished second to lead Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team to a 21st place finish at the 2011 Mideast Regional hosted by DeSales University.  The race featured 335 runners from 47 institutions.

The second place finish ensured Crawley her second trip, in as many years, to the NCAA National Championship next Saturday at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin.

Crawley completed the 6k course in 22:34, just one second behind Dickinson's Taylor Ludman (22:33). Crawley was part of a nine-women pack heading into the final three-quarter mile into woods marked by rolling hills and sharp switchbacks. She emerged from the woods with 150 meters to go, and five seconds off Ludman, and made a hard kick down the final few yards to nearly catch the Dickinson sophomore.

Mary Kate Shelley (25:57) and Lauren Dever (25:57) finished in the top half of the field. Jessica Love (26:18), Grace Thompson (26.22), Liz Albright (26:35) and Bridget Grogan (27:46) all contributed to the Diplomats' score.
