RADNOR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team tallied a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) victory over Cabrini in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Diplomats improved to a 22-6 overall record while the Cavaliers dropped to 20-9.
Back-to-back kills from Allison Franke and Amy Mullen gave F&M a 2-0 lead to start the match. A Grace Polisano kill extended the Diplomats' advantage to 14-8. Cabrini threatened by coming within one, but F&M ended the set on a 6-0 run with Grace Maggiore behind the service line to take the first set 25-18.
After the Cavaliers took an early lead, a Polisano kill tied the frame at 4-4. A Barbara Kapustin kill capped off a 5-0 run to take the 10-6 lead. A kill from Casey Morrow kept the deficit at three while Mullen notched a kill to give the Diplomats the second set 25-21.
F&M came out strong in the final set, taking a 7-3 lead off a Morrow kill. A service ace from Carly Ostrowski extended the advantage to 11-5. Cabrini retaliated to come within one, but a Kapustin kill stopped the Cavalier's momentum. A service ace from Franke brought the score to 23-20 in F&M's favor and Kapustin tallied the kill to give the Diplomats the set and the match.
Polisano paced the offense with 11 kills and 16 digs, followed by Kapustin with 10. Maggiore recorded 34 assists and led with three service aces.
The Diplomats close out the regular season on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., battling Johns Hopkins for the top spot in the Conference standings.
