LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center.
The Diplomats improved to 16-9, 7-2 CC while the Owls dropped to 1-20, 0-8 CC.
The Diplomats got off to a quick start in the first set, taking a 9-0 lead with Barbara Kapustin recording two service aces along the way. Kapustin started the Diplomats on their final run of the game, going 6-1 and culminating in a Grace Polisano kill to take the first 25-8.
Lydia Budd got F&M off to a 5-0 start behind the service line in the second frame with the help from a kill from Casey Morrow. A Polisano kill sparked F&M on a late 5-0 run with Skelly finishing the set with back-to-back service aces to take the second frame 25-11.
With the score tied at 6-6 to start the third set, a kill from Morrow, followed by an ace from Garison helped the Diplomats take a 9-6 lead. A kill from Amy Mullen started the Diplomats on a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 15-8. Mariah Hagan remained solid behind the service line to lead F&M on a 5-0 run to bring the score to 22-12. Garison finished the set with an ace to give the Diplomats the match.
Morrow and Kapustin led the offense with nine kills apiece and also both tallied four digs. Murphy led the defense with seven digs. Skelly had nine assists, six kills, and two aces. Garison ended the day with four kills, two aces, and two digs.
F&M returns to action on Thursday, traveling to No. 25 Stevenson for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
