BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall got a career-high 16 kills from Katie Foreman as the Diplomats defeated Bryn Mawr 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-16) Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action. F&M jumped to 10-7 overall and 3-1 in CC play, while the Owls fell to 6-9 and 1-2.
The opening set was close early, with the Diplomats holding a slight 15-11 lead in the middle of the frame. However, a 10-0 run, including nine straight points and two aces from Shae Murphy, gave F&M the set in dominating fashion, 25-11.
The Diplomats hit .308 in the first, needing only 26 attempts to finish out the set.
Bryn Mawr started the second game well, taking an early 9-5 lead. Ellie Ezekiel served well, and the tide began to turn as F&M took an 11-9 lead. The Owls would even the score at 12-12, but three straight kills from Foreman gave the Diplomats a lead they would not relinquish, winning the set 25-20.
Foreman logged seven kills in the frame without committing an error.
F&M took control early in the third, getting two more aces from Murphy to take an early 5-1 lead. The Diplomats continued to grow that lead, holding advantages of 10-4 and 15-5. Ultimately it was Sarah Landry that claimed the last kill of the night on a feed from Danielle Skelly, as F&M took the final frame 25-16.
Foreman committed just one error on the night, posting a .556 hitting percentage to accompany her team- and career-high 16 kills.
Murphy (10) and Alyssa Sanchez (13) reached double figures in digs to lead the defense, while Murphy led the way with four service aces.
F&M returns to action at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, hosting Johns Hopkins in a crucial CC showdown at the Mayser Center.
