LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Ellie Ezekiel was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for volleyball. The honor, awarded on Monday by the league office, is the first of her career and the first of the season for the Diplomats.
Ezekiel was instrumental in a 3-0 week for F&M, logging 54 kills and just eight errors on 118 swings, good for a .389 average on the week. In addition to averaging 4.9 kills per set, the junior contributed 24 digs, two aces, and two block assists over the three matches.
On Wednesday against Muhlenberg, Ezekiel had a career-high 28 kills with only one error, claiming a .500 hitting percentage as the Diplomats came back from two sets down to beat the Mules 3-2 in a dramatic fifth set. F&M's outside hitter continued the hot hitting in Saturday's trimatch with Ursinus and Arcadia, leading the Diplomats to back-to-back 3-0 victories with a pair of 13-kill efforts.
Through 15 matches Ezekiel has 169 total kills, putting her at sixth in the conference, with an average of 3.19 kills per set, good for eighth in the CC.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday, hosting Swarthmore for a 7:30 p.m. matchup at the Mayser Center.
