LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall volleyball coach Mary Kate Boland has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Coach of the Year, as well as having four of her players earn All-CC honors. Candice Tussing and Sydney Seydel nabbed first team accolades, Caroline Hubbard was named to the second team and Julie Harvey received honorable mention honors.
Boland led the Diplomats to an 18-14, 9-1 CC record and the top seed in the CC tournament. Taking the reigns of the program in 2003, Boland has racked up 189 wins, which ranks second all-time in F&M history. The coach of the year honor is the first of her career.
Tussing led the Diplomats in kills (282) and kills per set (2.50). The senior outside hitter was second on the team in service aces with 48. Seydel, a senior middle hitter, finished third on the team in kills with 177 and second in kills per set with 2.49. Her .333 hitting percentage ranked first on the Diplomats among players with more than 20 total attacks.
Hubbard led F&M in assists with 805. Her 8.06 assists per set average was third best in the CC. The sophomore setter was sharp from the serve position as well, leading the team with 49 service aces.
Harvey earned her second-straight All-CC honor, previously being named player of the year, as well as First Team All-CC last season. The sophomore middle hitter led the Diplomats in kills per set with 2.63 and finished fourth in kills with 176. Her .320 hitting percentage was second on the team.
