LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall freshman, Julie Harvey, was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year. Harvey also landed on the All-Region First Team, which assures her All-America consideration. The Freshman of the Year honor is the first in program history.
This is the second postseason award for Harvey. Two days ago, she was named Centennial Conference (CC) Co-Player of the Year and also earned first team honors. Harvey became the first freshman and fifth Diplomats to receive the Player of the Year honor.
Harvey led the Diplomats in hitting percentage (.340), kills (358) and blocks (56) and finished tops in the CC in hitting percentage, second in both kills and points (4.11 per game) and 10th in blocks.
The Diplomats saw their season come to a close with an 18-11 record after a 3-2 loss to Gettysburg in last Friday's CC semifinals.
