LANCASTER, Pa. – Pam Horner, a four-year starter on Franklin & Marshall’s volleyball team, has been named the 2011 recipient of The Kephart Award by the College’s Sociology faculty.
The Kephart Award is given by the Sociology Department every year to the senior major or minor who has demonstrated the most consistently high level of excellence in their sociology course work. It is a distinction awarded to the most outstanding students that are best qualified to represent the department and the discipline.
The award will be presented at the 2011 Awards Program for Seniors and Families. The event occurs on Friday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m. in The Ann and Richard Barshinger Center for Musical Arts in Hensel Hall, prior to Saturday’s commencement ceremony.
In addition to her academic honors, Horner’s accomplishments on the volleyball court have been recognized as well. The graduating senior was a 2010 All-Centennial First Team selection, leading the Diplomats to the Centennial Conference title and NCAA playoffs. In 2009, she landed a spot on the All-CC Second Team. The Springfield, Va., native is also a three-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll choice.
