LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Allison Wolters was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for women's tennis, announced by the league office on Monday. The honor was the third of the season for Wolters and marked the fifth time in the previous six weeks a Diplomat received the accolade.
Wolters (Belle Mead, N.J.) downed a pair of regionally-ranked singles players last week to extend a 13-match winning streak, improving to a remarkable 15-3 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the CC.
Ranked at No. 23 in the Atlantic South region, Wolters opened play with a straight-set win over Johns Hopkins' Sophia Strickland (No. 21 in Atlantic South) on Tuesday by scores of 6-4, 6-2 and followed on Saturday with a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-5, 10-7 win over Swarthmore's Emma Kassan (No. 18 in Atlantic South).
The Diplomats close out the regular season on the road against Washington on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. F&M has secured one of the five CC Playoff spots and can clinch a first-round bye with a win over the Shorewomen.
