CARLISLE, Pa. – With one match remaining on the regular season schedule, Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team put itself in a prime position to clinch a bid to the upcoming Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament, outlasting Dickinson by a 5-4 score on Thursday afternoon. 

The Diplomats now sit at 8-10, 6-3 CC while the No. 18 regionally ranked Red Devils dropped to 8-4, 5-3 CC. 

Playoff Picture 

F&M is now firmly in fourth place and ahead of Dickinson (5-3) in fifth and Gettysburg (4-3) in sixth, botch schools in which the Diplomats hold the tiebreaker against. A win against Ursinus on Saturday will clinch the Diplomats a playoff spot. 

By the Numbers

Following doubles action, F&M held the narrow 2-1 lead with a pair of dominant 8-2 wins at the No.'s 1 and 3 spots in the order. Four of the six singles matchups were won in straight sets, including an impressive 6-3, 6-1 decision from Nicole Russo at No. 1. 

The contest came down to the final singles competition of the day. Allysan Breece (No. 6) battled back from an opening set loss to earn the clutch victory (2-6, 6-4, 6-1).
