GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team earned its fourth consecutive Centennial Conference (CC) win, shutting out Gettysburg by a 9-0 score on Wednesday afternoon. The victory improved the No. 11 Atlantic South regionally ranked Diplomats to 9-3, 5-2 CC on the year, while the Bullets fell to 5-6, 1-4 CC.
F&M breezed through doubles, securing victories in each of the three matchups and outscoring its opponent by a 24-8 margin. The duo of Emily Gruenberg and Caitlin Rummelsburg teamed at No. 1 for an 8-3 victory, while Nicole Russo and Dana Sleeper at the No. 2 spot in the order picked up an 8-2 win.
Russo continued her dominance in singles action, earning a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1, while Rummelsburg dropped just one game at No. 2 in a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set decision. Tara Buchney (No. 3) and Megan FitzMaurice (No. 4) both rolled to 6-1, 6-0 wins, while Gruenberg downed her opponent 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Allysan Breece rounded out the dominant effort with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at the No. 6 position.
