F&M Handles Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team rolled past Haverford on Saturday afternoon by an 8-1 tally in a matchup of two regionally-ranked Centennial Conference (CC) squads.

The victory improved the Diplomats (No. 15 in Atlantic South) to 6-3, 2-2 CC, while the Fords (No. 10 in Atlantic South) fell to 10-3, 3-2 CC. 

F&M grabbed a 3-0 lead with a sweep in doubles action. The duo of Caitlin Rummelsburg and Sara Haas teamed for a narrow 9-8 (7-4) win at No. 1, while Dana Sleeper and Nicole Russo tallied an 8-4 victory at the No. 2 position. Tara Buchney and Emily Gruenberg were also strong at No. 3 with an 8-3 decision. 

Russo led the way from the No. 1 spot in singles, edging out a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win, while Rummeslburg won in straight sets at No. 2 (6-3, 7-6 (7-5)). Buchney crusaded at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4), while Megan FitzMaurice (No. 5) and Emily Gruenberg (No. 6) each won by a 9-7 tallies in scheduled eight-game pro sets with the team score decided.
