LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Megan FitzMaurice was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced Monday. The honor is her second of the season with the first coming back on March 24.
FitzMaurice led Franklin & Marshall (10-4, 5-1 CC) to a 2-0 week in conference play that included a 9-0 victory over McDaniel on Wednesday followed by a clutch 5-4 win against Swarthmore on Saturday, breaking a three-match losing streak to the Garnet.
Against the Green Terror, FitzMaurice dominated with a 6,0, 6-0 win from the No. 2 spot in singles play and teamed with Dana Sleeper at No. 1 in doubles action for an 8-0 shutout. The junior from Emmaus, Pa., significantly contributed to F&M's clutch win over the Garnet on Saturday, picking up a 6-7 (8-10), 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 4 in singles and pairing with Sleeper at No. 2 in doubles for the 8-6 win.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts Gettysburg at 4:00 p.m.
