WESTMINSTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team faced little resistance in its 9-0 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday afternoon in Westminster, Md. The Diplomats improved to 9-4, 4-1 CC, while the Green Terror dropped to 1-10, 0-4 CC.
All six of F&M's singles players earned straight-set wins with Caitlin Rummelsburg (No. 1) and Megan FitzMaurice (No. 2) leading the way at the top of the lineup with perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores. Emily Gruenberg (No. 3) and Allysan Breece (No. 4) both put forth dominating 6-1, 6-0 efforts while, Marissa Rohner (No. 5) and Sydney Fass (No. 6) paced the bottom of the order with 6-0, 6-1 victories.
Doubles competition provided the same results for the Diplomats as FitzMaurice and Dana Sleeper combined at No. 1 for the 8-0 shutout, while Gruenberg and Rachel Weinstein teamed at No. 2 for the convincing 8-1 win. Rohner and Fass wrapped up doubles play with a dominant 8-1 win of their own.
F&M returns to the court on Saturday when the Diplomats host Swarthmore at 12:00 p.m.
