ORLANDO, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip with a 7-2 loss to Wesleyan (Conn.) on Wednesday before closing out the week strong in a dominant 8-1 victory over Minnesota State – Mankato on Thursday. The Diplomats went 2-3 on the trip to even their record to 3-3 on the year.
Caitlin Rummelsburg and Tara Buchney captured F&M's lone singles wins against Wesleyan with Rummelsburg fighting hard at the top spot in the lineup with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-5 victory while Buchney rolled in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at No. 6.
Against Minnesota St. – Mankato, the Diplomats took five of the six singles matchups that included wins from Megan FitzMaurice (No. 2), Gruenberg (No. 3), Buchney (No. 4), Allysan Breece (No. 5) and Naomi Smith (No. 6).
All three doubles teams found success in the match with Rummelsburg and Anya Sahaydachny leading the way at the No. 1 position with an 8-2 win.
F&M returns to the court on Saturday, March 22, when the Diplomats open Centennial Conference (CC) play with a 1:00 p.m. contest on the road against Muhlenberg.
