GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The women of the Franklin & Marshall swim team were back in action Saturday morning for day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Diplomats finished day one in third place and will count on four swimmers advancing to tonight's finals to boost them up the standings after day two.
Melissa Mullin made her intentions clear in the 400-yard IM, qualifying first with a time of 4:34.90, more than 1.5 seconds ahead of the second qualifier. Rebecca McCain qualified 15th, earning a place in tonight's B final.
Anna Hess turned in an impressive preliminary performance as well, as her time of 58.43 was the second-fastest qualifier in the 100-yard backstroke. Hess will be joined in the finals by Courtney Collins (7th, 1:00.29), while Taylor Mateja (13th, 1:01.35) claimed a spot in the consolation finals.
Becca Meyers led a deep F&M contingent in the 200-yard freestyle, qualifying sixth with a time of 1:56.96. Four Diplomats booked places in the B final, as Grace Pereles (10th), Leeza Rojas (11th), Breann Cavanagh (15th), and Diane Wagner (16th) all made the cut.
Tonight's session, the fourth of six, will begin at 6:00 p.m. Finals will be contested in the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
