CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team fell in a hard fought 105-100 decision to Dickinson on Saturday in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats dropped to 5-4, 3-3 CC while the Red Devils improved to 8-4, 4-1 CC.
Both squads battled in a back-and-forth meet, with Dickinson sealing the victory in final event of the day when its relay team placed first in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:41.63. Jackie Behr, Courtney Collins, Maggie Johns and Katherine Grant finished second at 3:46.35.
F&M earned six victories, including wins in the first two events of the meet. A team of Taylor Mateja, Rebecca Citti, Collins and Krista Hollingsworth started out the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing at 1:56.05.
Grant followed with a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 10:47.79. The Red Devils picked up victories in the next four events before Hollingsworth won the 100-yard freestyle at 54.52 to kick off four-straight wins for the Diplomats.
Taylor Mateja earned a victory in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:15.89, followed by Grant who picked up her second win of the meet with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:17.03.
Citti finished out the individual victories for the Diplomats, touching the wall first in 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.99.
F&M returns to action on Saturday, hosting CC-opponent Gettysburg at 1:00 p.m.
