LANCATSER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team advanced nine swimmers from Saturday's preliminaries into tonight's day two final at the F&M Invitational.
Jackie Behr qualified for the 50-yard freestyle final by finishing seventh with a time of 25.55 in the preliminaries.
In the 400 individual medley Maggie Johns earned a place in the finals with a sixth-place finish after touching the wall in 4:47.25. Courtney Collins and Stephanie Brooks finished the 100 fly in the top-eight , placing fifth and sixth respectively.
Collins finished the event with a time of 1:02.35 while Brooks ended with a time of 1:04.60. Behr earned a spot in the consolations, finishing 10th with a time of 1:03.10. Teammate Alexia Tomlinson finished directly behind her in 11th with a time of 1:03.15.
Katherine Grant earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of 1:56.58. Teammate Krista Hollingsworth reached the finals with a fourth-place finish after posting a time of 1:58.55.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Rebecca Citti advanced to the finals with a time of 2:33.29 and a sixth-place finish. Hollingsworth and Taylor Mateja advanced to the 100-yard backstroke finals placing sixth and seventh respectively. Hollingsworth ended the race with a time of 1:03.17, while Mateja finished with a time of 1:03.20.
Citti, Mateja, Collins and Hollingsworth led the Diplomats to a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:13.39. The event was the only timed final of the morning.
Day two finals will be held tonight at 6:00 p.m., where champions will be crowned in the 50 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 fly, 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 800 freestyle relay.
