Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team finished out the 2017-18 season on a high note, securing two of three matches in the Walker Cup (C Division) of the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships in February, culminating with an 8-1 victory over Hamilton in the Consolation Final.
The Diplomats' 2-1 record at the Championships moved the team to No. 21 in the nation's final rankings as F&M wrapped up 2017-18 with a 4-15 record, including three wins in its final five contests.
The regular season proved to be a gauntlet as the Diplomats faced seven teams ranked in the nation's top-10. Four of F&M's losses were nail-biters as F&M fell by 5-4 scores. However, the Diplomats stepped up in clutch situations, outscoring its opponents by a 20-7 match-score margin at the CSAs. Action opened at the Team Championships with a hard-fought 5-4 loss to No. 21 Wesleyan in the First Round, before the Diplomats responded with back-to-back 8-1 triumphs over No. 21 Colby and No. 22 Hamilton.
Sherilyn Yang '18 concluded her stellar career with a 13-9 record during her senior season, competing solely at the No. 1 position on the ladder. She wrapped up her time in Lancaster with 39 wins.
Yang was F&M's lone representative at the CSA Individual Championships in early March, where she advanced to the Holleran Cup: B Division North bracket Semifinals and concluded her run with a 2-1 mark.
