LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 13 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team dropped an 8-1 contest against No. 8 Dartmouth on Thursday evening at the Mayser Center. The defeat moved the Diplomats' record to 2-2 on the year while the Big Green improved to 1-1.
Fiona Murphy got the action kicked off at No. 1 with a 3-1 victory for F&M. Murphy fell behind early after dropping the first game by a narrow 14-12 score but rebounded with three-straight (11-3, 12-10, 11-9) to improve to 2-1 on the year.
Emily Caldwell battled at No. 2 but was eventually outdueled in a 3-2 loss to Nina Scott of Dartmouth. Caldwell took a 2-1 lead (11-7, 0-11, 16-14) but dropped the last two sets by 11-8 scores en route to the marathon decision.
Dulakshi Elikewela had a strong showing at the No. 3 spot but eventually fell by a 3-1 score to the Big Green's Melina Turk (8-11, 11-5, 11-6, 12-10).
Dartmouth captured straight-game wins from the No. 4-9 positions for its first victory of the season.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday, January 8, with an 11:00 a.m. matchup at home against Yale.
