F&M Kicks Off Action in Florida – Week 1 Game Notes

Series History

Softball heads down to Florida to compete in 10 contests in five days, beginning with Simpson on Sunday, March 10. The Diplomats are 0-1 against the Storm after meeting over Spring Break in 2005. F&M closes out opening day with first-time opponent Roger Williams at 11:45 a.m.   

On Monday, the Diplomats take on Northwestern (Minn.) for the first meeting between the two programs and then look to remain undefeated against Smith after taking down the Pioneers in 2011. 

F&M takes the field on Tuesday, squaring off against North Park, who defeated the Diplomats in 2013 before going against Mount Union for the first meeting between the schools. 

After a day off, the Diplomats return on Thursday against two first-time opponents in Concordia Chicago and Lakeland.

The final day of action concludes with contests against Utica, with the series record tied at 1-1 after falling to the Pioneers in 2017.  F&M closes out its Spring Break action looking to earn the program's first win against Stockton, who owns a 3-0 edge in the overall series.   

Milestone Watch 

Lexi Piccinich enters the season tied for sixth in program history for career home runs with seven, needing one more to crack the top-five. Lauren Incorvaia '09 leads the category with 15. The junior also comes in at 15th in career doubles with 20. Jen Fried '04 holds the top spot with 36.
