LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's Isabel Schaefer was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week for softball, announced on Monday by the conference office. The honor is the first of Schaefer's career and the second of the season for the Diplomats.
The recognition follows a week that saw Schaefer go 3-0 in three appearances, giving up just one earned run in 19 innings for an ERA of 0.37.
The Radnor, Pa. native began the week on Thursday by pitching a complete-game shutout of Elizabethtown in a 5-0 F&M victory. The sophomore gave up zero walks and struck out six in the effort.
Schaefer turned in another strong performance on Saturday in a 10-1 win over Haverford. She gave up just one run, walked one and struck out three in another seven-inning effort.
On Sunday, she gave up just three hits to earn her second shutout and third complete game in four days as the Diplomats dropped Swarthmore 8-0 in five innings.
F&M returns to the diamond on Tuesday for an important doubleheader with league leaders Gettysburg at 3:00 p.m.
