LANCASTER, Pa. – Isabel Schaefer and Melissa Bollmeyer earned All-Centennial Conference (CC) honors in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. The two freshmen earned second team recognitions.
Schaefer (Radnor, Pa. / Radnor) led the Diplomats' pitching staff with an 11-8 record from inside the circle to go along with a 1.91 earned run average, which was good for fifth in the conference. In 124.1 innings, she struck out 113 batters, breaking the F&M record for punchouts in a season, and was second in the CC. Schaefer recorded six shutouts, a new F&M single-season record, and her 6.36 strikeouts per nine innings is third all time.
Bollmeyer (Freehold, N.J. / Peddie School) was impressive in her first season as a Diplomat. In 34 games, she led the team in batting average (.373), hits (38), triples (3), walks (19), stolen bases (14), runs scored (31), and on-base percentage (.475). Her 17 RBIs ranked fourth on the team, while her slugging percentage of .471 was good for third on the squad.
F&M got off to its best start since 1981 at 9-1 through the first 10 games and finished with a 23-11 record, the third time in the last five years that the Diplomats have had 20 or more wins.
