LANCASTER, Pa. – Four Franklin & Marshall softball players have received 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades.

Caitlin Brust, Liz Middleton and Julianne Whitleigh were awarded the honor for the second time, while Kaitlin Zampino earned the honor for the first time.

The accolade is granted to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.

Brust, a catcher/outfielder, started 27 games last season, finishing with a .275 batting average and nine RBI's. Middleton started seven of the 15 contests she appeared in as an infielder, while Whitleigh started eight contests in the outfield. Zampino was solid from the mound, tallying an 8-4 record with a 3.37 ERA.
