LEXINGTON, Va. - Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team dropped a tough 6-1 game against Bridgewater (Va.) on Sunday afternoon at the final day of the W&L Tournament in Lexington.

With the non-conference defeat, the Diplomats fell to 0-3-1 while the Eagles improved to 4-1.

Bridgewater scored early and often, going ahead in the sixth minute with a one-timer in the box for the 1-0 edge. An errant Bridgewater cross in the 22nd minute went off a Diplomat and took an unlucky bounce into the back of the net for the 2-0 Eagle advantage, but F&M was quick to answer back.

Less than a minute after going down by two, the Diplomats cut into the deficit when Ryan O'Rourke found Arielle Zaccagnino for the first-year midfielder's first-career goal.

However, the celebration was short lived as Bridgewater added to the lead with scores in the 25th and 43rd minutes of the opening half to head into the break with a decisive 4-1 advantage. The Eagles followed with another pair of scores in the second frame, tallying markers in the 55th and 68th minutes, en route to the 6-1 final.

Shots were led by Bridgewater at 13-3 overall, while corners were closer at 3-1 in favor of the Eagles. Sarah Laterza, O'Rourke, and Zaccagnino were all credited with shots for the Diplomats.

Tara Hessenthaler (0-1) was charged with the loss in net after registering three saves in 45 minutes of action. Caton Raffensperger played the second half and was credited with one save. Jessica Touve (4-1) earned the Bridgewater win with a two-save effort in 90 minutes of play.

F&M returns to the pitch on Saturday, opening Centennial Conference (CC) play on the road against Muhlenberg at 4:00 p.m.
