LANCASTER, Pa. – Three Franklin & Marshall women's soccer players were named to the 2017 All-Centennial Conference (CC) Team, announced on Thursday. Reanna Leoni garnered a spot on the First Team, Nicolette Runko earned a place on the Second Team, and Gabby Panayotakis received Honorable Mention recognition.
Leoni (Tallahassee, Fla. / Maclay School) landed on the list for the second time in her career and became the first F&M field player to earn First Team honors since 2011. She led the team and placed fourth in the Conference with 23 points, accumulating a 1.44 points per game average that was the 10th best in program history. Her 10 goals on the year marked the first time since 2004 that an F&M player reached double-digit scoring, while the senior forward's three game-winners tied for second in the season record-book.
Runko (Howell, N.J. / Marine Acad.) earned a spot on the All-CC Team for the second-straight year after another standout season on the Diplomats' backline. The sophomore defender helped key a unit that tallied six shutouts on the year and allowed multiple goals on just seven occasions. She also aided the offense with a goal and two assists.
Panayotakis (Hamden, Conn. / Hamden) made the team for the first time after playing every minute and starting in all 16 of F&M's games during her freshman season. Her 84 total saves were the second-most among CC goalkeepers, while her .800 save percentage placed fourth. Panayotakis put forth a historic performance in the Diplomats' Sept. 20th game against Dickinson, collecting 20 saves in 96:12 minutes of action, which was good for the fourth most in F&M single-game history, and the highest total since 1987.
The Diplomats tallied a 6-9-1 overall record in 2017, including a memorable 1-0 shutout of No. 15 Stevens on Sept. 2 in Lancaster.
