No. 6 F&M Falls to No. 4 Salisbury

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 6 women's lacrosse team dropped a 9-5 contest to No. 4 Salisbury in non-conference action on Wednesday evening. The loss put the Diplomats at 6-3 on the year while the Sea Gulls improved to 8-2.

Salisbury was the first to strike, taking a 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest. Jane Cote got F&M on the board, scoring off a free position attempt at the 17:44 mark. The Sea Gulls responded with two more goals in two minutes. Caroline Kolva was next to score, finding the back of the net off a Cote assist with just over six minutes left in the half. 

Kolva struck again just under two minutes into the second half to bring F&M within three. Both teams exchanged goals in the early going with Tabitha Rodriguez getting in the on the action with a free position goal at the 21:53 mark to pull the Diplomats within three. Kolva notched her third goal of the game at the 5:28 mark to bring the score to 8-5, but Salisbury held on for the win.

Kolva paced the offense, scoring three goals off five shots.

Maggie Hanzsche led the defense with three caused turnovers while Erin Phillips came up with four draw controls. 

Julia McKay (6-3) took the loss, turning away two shots. Salisbury's Skye Graham (8-2) came away with the win after an 11-save performance.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, hosting No. 23 Haverford for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
