LANCASTER, Pa. – Two late runs in the second half helped No. 7 Franklin & Marshall to a 13-10 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse on Wednesday evening. The win kept the Diplomats at a perfect 7-0 mark in CC play, 14-3 overall while the Red Devils dropped to 7-8, 4-4 CC.
F&M opened the game with two goals within one minute of each other with Clare Monaghan tallying a goal and an assist to help the Diplomats to a 2-0 lead.
The teams traded goals, but Dickinson found the energy with three straight goals to take a 4-3 lead with 5:35 left in the first. F&M responded with three unanswered goals in two minutes from Maddie Hughes, Megan Jackson, and Paige Moriarty to take back the lead and went into the break with a 6-5 lead.
The Red Devils tied the game at 6-6 to start the second half off a free position attempt and scored two more subsequent goals to take an 8-6 edge. F&M hit another gear with 21 minutes left in the second, and went on a 7-2 run to secure the 13-10 victory.
Clare Monaghan, Katie Groenke, Megan Jackson, Paige Moriarty, and Maddie Hughes all netted two goals while Monaghan led with two assists. Nancy Taylor, Caroline Kolva and Grace Norley all had an assist, while Ryann Laible ended with an assist and a goal.
The Diplomats outshot the Red Devils 31-17 and went 17-for-22 in clear attempts.
F&M closes out the regular season on Saturday at Muhlenberg for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
