COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Grace Norley and Paige Moriarty led Franklin & Marshall to a 20-6 victory over Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 11-3, 5-0 CC, while the Bears dropped to 2-0, 0-5 CC.
The game was never in doubt at the Diplomats took an 8-1 lead midway through the first half. After two straight from Ursinus, F&M answered with three of their own for a 10-3 edge. The Bears struck at 7:06 and F&M closed out the half with a 4-1 run and took a 15-5 lead into the break.
Scoring slowed down in the second half, with F&M netting the first three goals of the final frame. The Bears managed a score at 12:04, but the Diplomats finished with two unanswered.
Grace Norley fended with six goals and one assist while Paige Moriarty handed out seven helpers and scored once. Hannah Serling had four goals with one assist, Megan Jackson found twine on three occasions and Clare Monaghan had two scores with one assist.
F&M outshot the Bears 31-19, held a 15-7 in ground balls, but draws belonged to Ursinus at 17-10.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts McDaniel at 7:00 p.m.
