LOS ANGELES – Franklin & Marshall picked up two victories in women's lacrosse action on Thursday. The Diplomats downed St. Mary's 13-6 early in the day and took care of host Occidental 17-8 in the nightcap to wrap up their spring break week.
F&M went ahead early against St. Mary's 2-0, but the Sea Hawks countered with two and tied the game. The Diplomats answered with three straight and took the lead for good and after goal by St. Mary's, F&M need three to close out the half and took an 8-3 lead into the break.
Four straight to start the second put the Diplomats up 12-3 and with the majority of the starters pulled, the Sea Hawks managed to outscore F&M 3-1 in the final 13:04 of action.
Paige Moriarty picked up nine points with six goals and three assists while Megan Jackson struck twice. Jane Cote had one score with three helpers, Brianna Gorman struck once and Eileen Cuneo along with Maddie Hughes both had an assist.
Danielle Harrington picked up the win with eight stops to go along with six ground balls for F&M.
It was all F&M in the nightcap as the Diplomats jumped out to an early 11-0 lead. The teams exchanged points during the final 10 minutes of play with F&M leading 13-2 at the break. F&M went up 14-2 early and the second and Occidental answered with three straight. The teams netted three goals each during the final 10 of action for 17-8 final.
Megan Jackson had four goals to go along with three assists, Grace Norley had four scores with two helpers and Paige Moriarty ended with three goals and an assist. Julia Arrese, Caroline Kolva, and Maddie Hughes all scored once.
Danielle Harrington turned away two shots and improved to 5-2 on this year.
