ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — No. 7 Franklin & Marshall cruised to a 17-3 win over Elizabethtown in women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in the season opener. Senior Paige Moriarty finished with four goals and an assist to hit the 300-point mark in her career.
F&M went ahead 13-0 early in the second, before the Blue Jays finally got on the board with a pair of goals. The Diplomats answered with four straight and after a late goal from E-Town, F&M put the last point on the board with a little less than three minutes to play.
Hannah Serling led the offense with four goals and three helpers, Paige Moriarty finished with four goals and an assist, Katie Groenke struck three times and Bridget O'Donnell finished with a pair of goals. Megan Jackson, Jane Cote, Maddie Hughes and Brianna Gorman all finished with a goal. Clare Monaghan had two assists, while Eileen Cuneo and Juliann Lisovicz had one helper each.
Danielle Harrington improved to 1-0 with six saves in net while Abby Kopytko took the loss with 10 stops.
F&M outshot E-Town 36-14, went 11-for-12 on clears and a had a 19-6 edge in ground balls.
The Diplomats returns to action next Saturday when F&M welcomes Washington & Lee to Shadek Stadium in the opener at 12:00 p.m.
