Women’s Golf Opens Fall at McDaniel Invite

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team began its 2018 fall season by competing in the McDaniel Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown. 

The Diplomats totaled a 419 on the day at the par-72, 5,831-yard course. Stevenson led the way with a 343, followed by Marymount (351), Susquehanna (369), and Dickinson (392).

Jamila Gowdy led F&M by carding a 97 to tie for 20th out of 37 golfers at the season-opening tournament. Maddy Markmann-Porch was next by shooting a 103, followed closely by Megan Whittier (104). Olivia Tufano rounded out the Diplomats' scorers with a 115.

Stevenson's Laura Rentz secured the individual title with a low round of 80 strokes. Marymount's Alessandra Bertacche and Stevenson's Amanda Perez tied for second with scores of 82, while Muhlenberg's Kat Hodges, Susquehanna's Ella Moores, and Marymount's Isabel Trojillo all collected identical 84's.

The Diplomats return to action on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the South Hills Golf Club to take part in the McDaniel Fall Tri-Match.
