LANCASTER, Pa. –Megan Whittier carded an 89 at day one of the Centennial Conference (CC) women's golf championships on Saturday to lead Franklin & Marshall.
She heads into tomorrow's final day of action at the par-70, 5,801-yard Conestoga Country Club course tied for fifth out of 38 competitors.
The 89 is the best round of Whittier's career. Jamila Gowdy also provided a strong showing after shooting a 102 to place 23rd. Sarah Acquaviva was close behind in 27th with a 112 in the opening round.
Defending-champion Gettysburg leads eight teams at the event after shooting a 352-stroke total. Dickinson is second with a 371, followed by Ursinus in third (373). F&M stands in eighth with a 554 team total.
Alessandra Bertacche and Ursinus' Emily McGarrigle lead all golfers by tying for first in the round with 79 totals. Gettysburg's Hannah Fireman is in third with an 83.
