LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team is set to open the spring portion of its schedule this Sunday, heading across town to compete at the Millersville Invitational.
The event will take place at the Tanglewood Manor Golf Course in Quarryville, starting at 1:00 p.m.
F&M's key to success in 2017 will be centered on replacing one of the Centennial Conference's (CC) top women's golfers in Kathleen Smith. Last season, Smith became just the fourth member in program history to earn multiple All-CC honors when she tied for fifth out of 29 competitors at the 2016 CC Championships to garner her second-consecutive accolade.
A pair of returners from the Diplomats' CC Tournament lineup is welcomed back into the fold and is joined by two talented freshmen, to give F&M a formidable group for the spring.
Sophomore Megan Whittier, who was named to the Centennial's All-Sportsmanship Team, placed 25th with a 206 total (101-105) at last year's championships, returns to the team, along with senior Harriet Waldron, who totaled a 238 (122-116).
Following the Diplomats' opening weekend of action, F&M is set to take part in four additional events leading up to the CC Championship, which is scheduled for April 22-23 and will once again be hosted by F&M at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens, Pa.
