ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team opened its spring slate on Saturday by competing at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational at the Hanover Country Club.
Kathleen Smith led the way with an eighth-place finish out of 43 competitors at the par-72, 5,801-yard course after totaling 90 strokes on the day. Megan Whittier carded a 141 to place 37th and Harriet Waldron rounded out the Diplomats' scoring with a 124.
F&M did not meet the minimum of four players required to record a finish in the team standings. Gettysburg secured the team total by combining for a 354, followed by Ursinus in second (371) and Lebanon Valley in third (389). The Bullets' Samantha Sessa led the player standings with a tournament-low 79, four strokes ahead of LVC's Megan Kimmel.
Tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., the Diplomats are set to host the F&M Spring Invitational at Overlook Golf Course.
