LANCASTER, Pa. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall is set to host Hartwick on Wednesday in the first round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament at 4:00 p.m on Tylus Field. Tickets will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID's, senior citizens and children.
Please note that pets are not permitted at Tylus Field during NCAA play.
Wednesday's meeting between the Diplomats (16-3) and the Hawks (13-6) is one of eight first-round contests to be played in the 24-team NCAA Tournament. This will be the third meeting between the two programs, but the first since Hartwick took a 2-0 victory in 1995.
This NCAA Tournament bid marks the 13th overall and sixth consecutive appearance for the Diplomats, who have now reached the Tournament eight out of the last nine seasons. F&M holds a 6-1 record in NCAA First Round contests with a 16-12 overall record in the Tournament.
The Diplomats' highest finish in the Tournament came in 1981 when F&M fell to Trenton State 2-0 in the Championship game. F&M made it to the Final Four in 2017, falling to eventual champions Middlebury by a 2-1 tally.
This appearance is the eighth in program history for Hartwick, with the Hawks' most recent berth coming in 2004, ultimately cut short by Messiah in the Second Round.
