No. 5 Diplomats Secure Senior Day Shutout

LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 5 Franklin & Marshall earned a 3-0 shutout victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) competition on Saturday.

The Diplomats improved to 15-1, 9-0 CC while the Owls fell to 13-2, 6-2 CC.

Prior to the start of Saturday's contest, the Diplomats honored their seven-member senior class of Erin CoverdaleColleen FrancisMelissa GulaCaitlin MorrisseyClaire MurphyMichaela Nicholas, and Katie O'Loughlin.

F&M tallied the first score of the game in just the third minute of action. Lily Mynott found the back of the cage for the CC-leading 19th time this season to take an early 1-0 lead.

In the 13th minute, the Diplomats added another when Ellie Paige crossed the ball to Addie Peters on the left side, giving F&M a two-point cushion heading into the first break.

The score stood there for nearly 46 full minutes of gameplay despite F&M's continued pressure on the Owl defense. In the final minute of the contest, senior co-captain Michaela Nicholas picked up her first career goal to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Diplomats dominated the shot disparity, out-shooting Bryn Mawr 38-0 across the four quarters of play. This marked the second consecutive game in which the F&M defense held the opposition without a shot attempt.

Goalkeeper Christina Seery (15-1) is credited the win for F&M while Bryn Mawr's Maggie Titus (11-2) tallies just her second loss of the year for the Owls.

F&M plays its regular-season finale at Johns Hopkins Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
