LANCASTER, Pa. – Twelve Franklin & Marshall field hockey players landed on the 2018-19 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad, announced Wednesday by the NFHCA. The Diplomats also received the National Academic Team Award.
The National Academic Squad recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year.
Emily Nagle earned the honor for the fourth consecutive season while Nicole Bodo, Caitlin Morrissey, Claire Murphy and Katie O'Loughlin earned the award for the third time. Emma Durantine, Colleen Francis, and Christina Seery received the recognition for the third time. Savannah Familo, Addie Peters, Abby Straub, and Phoebe Wood were all named for the first time.
The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.
The Diplomats have now earned team honors from the NFHCA for seven consecutive years.
F&M's squad delivered a record-breaking 2018 season, resetting four program records while remaining one of the top-ranked teams in Division III. The Diplomats recorded their sixth-straight NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, finishing the year with a 17-4 overall record, and never fell out of the nation's top-15 ranking.
