BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 10 field hockey team notched a 1-0 victory against Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Diplomats improved to 13-2, 8-1 CC while the Owls dropped to 8-7, 1-7 CC.
Lily Mynott notched the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of action to give F&M the win. Melissa Gula took a long shot from the middle, which Mynott was able to deflect into the cage for her eighth goal of the season.
The Diplomats looked to score early in the game with Emily Nagle firing a shot wide after only a minute of action.
Bryn Mawr tallied its first scoring opportunity in the final minute of the first half, after being awarded a penalty corner, but goalkeeper Ilianna Santangelo was able to come up with the save to keep the score even going into the break.
F&M controlled possession throughout the game, owning a 34-2 edge in shots and a 16-1 advantage in penalty corners. Erin Coverdale paced the offense with 15 shots, 13 on goal.
Santangelo (13-2) earned the win after turning away two shots while Maggie Titus (4-7) took the loss despite a 19-save effort.
F&M heads to York (Pa.) on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
