HAVERFORD, Pa. – Three goals from three players helped Franklin & Marshall's No. 11 field hockey record a 3-1 victory over Haverford on Saturday afternoon.

The Diplomats improved to 7-1, 2-1 CC while the Fords fell to 4-3, 0-2 CC.

F&M controlled to possession to start the game, outshooting Haverford 4-1 in the first 28 minutes of action, but the Fords got on the board first with a shot to the right post after being awarded a penalty corner to take the lead in the 30th minute.

The Diplomats responded less than a minute late as Lily Mynott notched an unassisted goal off a fast break to even the score going into the break.

Caitlin Morrissey tallied the go-ahead goal in the 42nd minute, putting away a penalty stroke to keep a perfect 3-for-3 record in penalty strokes on the season.

F&M kept the pressure on, punching four shots in the 56th minute, but were unable to connect. Melissa Gula delivered the final blow in the 63rd minute, driving up the field to score off a one-on-one against the goalie to bring the score to 2-1. 

F&M owned the advantage in shots at 17-5 with Erin Coverdale leading with four shots, followed by Mynott with three. Penalty corners were tied at six apiece. 

Ilianna Santangelo (7-1) earned the win after turning away two shots while Hannah Roth (4-3) took the loss after recording nine saves.

The Diplomats return home on Wednesday, Sept. 26, taking on No. 2 Messiah at 8:00 p.m.
