Santangelo Earns NFHCA Defensive POTW

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Ilianna Santangelo was named this week's Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Wednesday. The honor was the first for Santangelo and the first in program history since the NFHCA began its weekly awards.

Santangelo (Sudbury, Mass. / Saint Marks) registered back-to-back shutouts as the No. 4 Diplomats won the Susquehanna Connie Harnum Classic last weekend. She turned away nine shots in a 1-0 overtime victory against No. 14 Kean, including a diving save to her left on a penalty stroke with less than two minutes in regulation to force overtime. She followed with one save in a 3-0 win against the host River Hawks on Saturday.

The Diplomats host FDU-Florham in the 2018 home opener tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Tylus Field.
