LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Erin Coverdale and Ilianna Santangelo were named the Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. The honor is the third in Coverdale's career and fourth in Santangelo's.
Coverdale (Lewes, Del. / Cape Henlopen) scored three times in a 2-0 weekend for the No. 4 Diplomats. She notched the game-winner in overtime in a 1-0 triumph against No. 14 Kean on Friday and found the back of the cage twice in the 3-0 victory at Susquehanna in the championship game of the Connie Harnum Classic on Saturday.
Santangelo (Sudbury, Mass. / Saint Marks) registered back-to-back shutouts as the No. 4 Diplomats won the Susquehanna Connie Harnum Classic. She turned away nine shots in a 1-0 overtime victory against No. 14 Kean, including a diving save to her left on a penalty stroke with less than two minutes in regulation to force overtime. She followed with one save in a 3-0 win against the host River Hawks on Saturday.
The Diplomats host FDU-Florham in the home opener on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
