Women’s Rowing Sends Two Boats to Grand Final

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Franklin & Marshall's women's rowing team impressed at day one of the Knecht Cup in New Jersey on Saturday when both the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ boats won their individual heats to advance into tomorrow's Grand Finals.

The Diplomats' Varsity 4+ A boat secured a top showing in their heat of four competitors with a time of 8:21.42. Marietta was next at 8:31.10. F&M heads into tomorrow's Grand Final with the third-best time out of Saturday's three heats. The event is set for a 9:48 a.m. start time tomorrow. 

A Varsity 4+ B boat also took to the water for the Diplomats and earned a spot in the Petite Final with a fourth-place finish in their heat and a time of 8:47.28. Tomorrow's Final is set for 9:40 a.m.

In the Varsity 8+ event, F&M's boat finished with the best overall time across both heats at 7:13.63 to earn a spot in tomorrow's six-team field that will compete in the 12:20 p.m. Grand Final. The Diplomats' finish in Saturday's heat was more than 10 seconds ahead of St. Mary's in second.
