ROME, N.Y. – A pair of Varsity 8+ boats represented Franklin & Marshall's women's rowing team against No. 6 Hamilton, Vassar and Trinity Saturday on the Erie Canal in New York.

The Diplomats' First Varsity 8+ boat of Kelly Minard (coxswain), Katie Benham (8), Paige Alexander (7), Teresa Chappell (6), Liz Bordie (5), Margaret Stoner (4), Annette Von Jaglinsky (3), Leah Issokson (2), Helen Nelson (1) advanced out of their opening heat with a time of 7:47.4 to earn a place in the finals.
F&M concluded its strong showing with a second-place finish and a time of 7:50.3. Hamilton was first at 7:23.1 while Vassar came in third at 7:58.4.
The Second Varsity 8+ boat of Meredith Cooney (coxswain), Sam Hershey (8), Grace Berg (7), Rebecca McCain (6), Madeline Cook (5), Emilie MacDonald (4), Shannon Cunningham (3), Kayleigh Rine (2), Sarah Labovitz (1) came in second at 8:50.5 in their opening heat before finishing behind Trinity in their final race at 8:13.8.
The Diplomats return to the water next Saturday when F&M travels to Rochester to face the host school as well as Ithaca and RIT.
