PENNSAUKEN TWP., N.J. – Franklin & Marshall's women's rowing team claimed silver at the 31st Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats second-place finish came in the Collegiate DII/DIII division and marks the fifth-straight year F&M has medaled at the event.
The varsity 8+ boat of Danielle Tunkel-coxswain, Amalia Hack, Maggie Provencher, Natalie Guzikowski, Allison Hoffmann, Katherine Cousart, Claire Perrault and Victoria Trovillion finished the race with a time of 7:22.60, a mere five seconds behind Philadelphia who claimed the win. The Diplomats earned a spot in the finals after capturing a victory in their qualifying heat with a time of 7:52.01.
F&M's second varsity 8+ boat of Julia Scavicchio-coxswain, Jennie Silver, Alaina Ignas, Julia Whyte, Eliza Weintraub, Haley Post, Angela Simpson, Anne Dolan and Maayan Shalvi rowed to a fourth-place finish in the race with a time of 7:43.66, behind Bryn Mawr in third at 7:30.54.
The Diplomats return to the water on Saturday to compete against Marietta, Penn State, Susquehanna, Lafayette and Lehigh at Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisbury.
