• Diplomats Third at MARC Championships

    Franklin & Marshall’s women’s crew team placed third at 2011 Middle Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship at Gifford Pinchot Park Saturday afternoon. Two Diplomats picked up All-Conference recognition and two were named to All-Academic team.

    The First Varsity Women's 8+ of Jennie Silver-cox, Brittany George-stroke, Morgan Burgess, Seymone Killins, Erika Jozwiak, Maggie Provencher, Allison Ercolano, Caitlin Forsthoefel, Haley Post raced against Division II competition from Dowling College, Merchyhurst College, Philadelphia University, and UMass-Lowell. The crew placed second, five seconds off of Philadelphia, and just .8 seconds ahead of Mercyhurst, winners of the gold medal in the Varsity 8+ event at the 2010 NCAA Division II Championships

    Franklin & Marshall won all three races against Bryn Mawr College and the University of Scranton at Whitemarsh Boat Club in Conshohocken, Pa. The races were rowed over a 1500m course, shortened from 2000m due to rough water caused by high winds.

    The Franklin & Marshall women’s crew team competed at Donahue in Worcester, Massachusetts Saturday afternoon. Defending Division III National Champions Williams, WPI, Connecticut College and Simmons represented the other schools competing.

    Franklin & Marshall had three crew compete in the Neuweiler Plate Regatta hosted by F&M at Gifford Pinchot State Park Saturday afternoon. Other participating schools were Lehigh University, Penn State University, Robert Morris University, and Rutgers-Camden.

    Franklin & Marshall will host its first rowing race on Saturday. The Neuweiler Plate will take place at Gifford Pinchot State Park near Lewisberry, Pa. Other competing teams include Lehigh (DI), Penn State, Robert Morris (DI), and Rutgers-Camden (DIII).

    F&M’s varsity 8+ finished in third place at Murphy Cup in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats picked up the bronze in the Collegiate Women Varsity DII/DIII division.

    The Women's Varsity 8 (Larissa Sfedu-cox, Brittany George-stroke, Roni Setton, Caitlin Forsthoefel, Julie Kopperman, Haley Post, Rose DeHaas, Jess Bechhofer, Erika Jozwiak-bow) finished 13th of 21 in 16:24.51. Trinity College won in 15:19.74.

    Franklin & Marshall’s crew teams competed at the Navy Day Regatta Saturday afternoon. The teams turned in a solid performance competing against teams from all three divisions.
