Crew Competes at Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships

YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s crew teams competed at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships (MARC) in York County on Saturday. F&M turned in a solid performance and three members of the team received MARC All-Conference recognition.

The Women's Varsity 8 of Jan Heddens-cox, Britanny George-stroke, Alex Merrick, Morgan Burgess, Caitlin Knierim, Kate Emert, Katie Winfree, Haley Post and Allison Ercolano turned in a good performance in their heat, qualifying for the final with the fifth fastest time. F&M finished sixth in final with a time of 7:30.3. Mary Washington finished first with a 7:13.0 followed by Marietta (7:15.1), Washington College (7:17.4), Bryn Mawr (7:26.2) and North Park (7:28.3).

Laura Morse-cox, Seyomen Killins-stroke, Emma Cedar, Roni Setton, Olivia Hill, Emilia Harband, Debra Gladwin, Laura Blasi and Sabrina Brown made up the Women's 2nd Varsity 8. The crew finished third, crossing at 8:04.3, just behind Washington (7:33.3) and Mary Washington (7:33.3). F&M finished ahead of Bryn Mawr (8:24.4) and North Park (8:45.0). The finish marks a season of vast improvements for the Diplomats and indicates a promising future.

Alex Merrick, Kate Emert and Haley Post were named All-Conference at the conclusion of the race. Roni Setton, Catilin Knierim, Debra Gladwin and Brittany George received Academic All-Conference recognition.

The race concluded the 2010 campaign for the Diplomats.
