LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall women's basketball head coach Kirsten Richter announced the addition of Kate McDonald as an assistant coach to the Diplomats' staff for the upcoming 2018-19 season. McDonald takes the place of Kelsey Florian, who returned to coach at her alma mater, Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
"We are excited to welcome Kate to F&M," said Richter. "She brings with her a wealth of experience from Juniata, where she contributed to many aspects of the program, the athletic department, and across campus."
McDonald spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Juniata College. In 2017-18, she helped lead the Eagles to a 23-6 overall record, a spot in the Landmark Championship game, and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. During her time at Juniata, McDonald also served as a strength and conditioning intern and assisted the college as a residential director.
A two-year captain and four-year starter at forward for the Eagles, McDonald ended her playing career with 1,452 points, 1,095 rebounds, 296 steals, and 94 blocked shots. She was a three-time All-Landmark First Team Selection, a Second Team selection, a Landmark Rookie of the Year, and a Landmark Defensive Player of the Year. McDonald was also honored with the college's Charles Bargerstock Award for greatest contribution to athletics by a graduating female and was a three-time member of the Landmark Academic Honor Roll.
McDonald graduated from Juniata in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, with a secondary emphasis in Communication.
