LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell to Dickinson 74-63 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball on Wednesday evening. The Diplomats dropped to 9-15, 6-13 CC while the Red Devils improved to 9-15, 9-10 CC.
After a slow start to the first, a Haley Pilone layup tied the game at 4-4 with 5:45 left in the quarter. Sarah Pisani knocked down a three to give the Diplomats the lead at the 3:55 mark. Kristin Hamill hit a jumper as time expired to keep F&M's 14-13 edge at the end of the first.
Sarosha Parsons knocked down a three to start the scoring for F&M in the second quarter and bring the score to 17-15. Dickinson took the lead, but a Lindsey Powers three gave the Diplomats the reins with 4:24 left in the half. The Red Devils closed out the quarter with a 6-0 run to take the 35-29 advantage at the break.
Powers knocked down a three to bring the Diplomats within five at the 6:22 mark in the third. Pilone netted the final five points for F&M in the third, but Dickinson kept the 55-44 lead.
A layup from Parsons and a Powers three brought the Diplomats back within seven with 5:31 left in the game. Hamill knocked down two free throws and a layup to cut the lead to six, but strong free throw shooting helped the Red Devils to the 74-63 win.
Hamill led F&M with 22 points and eight rebounds. Pilone followed with 15 points and Powers was good for 12, going four-for-seven from behind the arc.
The Diplomats close out the season at Swarthmore on Saturday, Feb. 17 for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
